The grace of nature brings countless pleasure and fascination into my life. I feel it is my obligation to give back to our selfless planet in every way I can. A fish's perspective. Dive into the ocean and my brain (no certification required) in my latestExplorer's Journal entry. Seahorses are amongst one of the ocean's most unique creatures. See a collection of seahorse photographs including a very rare wild seahorse birth in my latest collection of underwater photographs. There is no greater ocean experience for me than to swim eye to eye with wild dolphins. During my recent trips to the Bahamas I had the wonderful opportunity to swim with my dolphin friends once again. Glimpse into this magical encounter in this wild dolphins video. Check out the latest photos in the ocean gallery for some underwater photographs of octopus, sea turtles, and more. An exciting underwater photograph is usually a recipe of preparation, perseverance, and patience — mixed in with a little luck. In my latest Explorer's Journal entry, read about how this all came into play on a recent dive. I have added a selection of photographs taken during the past month while diving in Palm Beach, Florida. In this collection of underwater photographs you will get a small glimpse of the broad diversity of marine life that can be seen right off our Florida coast. Check out the latest photos in the ocean gallery. Exploring the oceans is always an exciting adventure. Every single dive into the unknown is filled with new and unique encounters, but in fourteen years of diving this was to be a first. My underwater encounter with one of the ocean's leviathans, a whale shark, near the coast of West Palm Beach, Florida was a humbling experience. Check out some of the photographs of this amazing whale shark. Just in time for Halloween! Straight out of some Hollywood horror movie comes this strange looking fish — the Northern Stargazer. Check out some of the photos of this fish and a few others in theOcean Gallery. During August 22nd and 23rd I was fortunate enough to experience a once a year phenomenon in our wonderful oceans — the mass coral spawning event. And now I am bringing the experience to you in writing, photos, and video! While no one was looking I sneaked in a couple of things on to the web site. One is a link to my first book on ocean life — Ocean Wanderers. I have also added two Explorer's Journal entries: one on an amazing sea turtle encounter and the other on the adventures of Mr. Florida Prickly Cockle. Check them out! One of the many perks of my job is having the unique opportunity to have a close encounter with some of the world's rarest creatures. And it is during turtle nesting season that such an opportunity presents itself. Check out the latest underwater photos for a peak at these beautiful and rare baby Leatherback turtles. During my recent trip to the Bahamas I had the opportunity to try my hand at some underwater time lapse photography. Using a time lapse camera I was able to photograph a coral reef for over an hour during twilight hours. Combining all the images together I created a time lapse video of the corals extending their polyps. View this unique time lapse video. The islands of the Bahamas offers a great diversity of marine life to observe in an almost untouched setting. From mating Hamlets and Yellowhead Jawfish with eggs to rare deep water soft corals. See the latest underwater photographs in the Ocean Gallery for a glimpse at these and other beautiful marine life. I just recently returned from a shark expedition trip to the Bahamas with some exciting new underwater photos. Make sure to check them out in the Ocean Gallery. Check out the latest underwater photos in the Ocean Gallery for some very unique underwater creatures such as the Bandtail Searobin. Plus, debuting as the voice of TheLivingSea, the lovely Tanya Guiler (aka. my wonderful girlfriend) has narrated Oceanic Crusade — my latest Lancer Dragonet video. I have added a new Explorer's Journal entry about my encounter with a pair of comical Seaweed Blenny. Check it out to see some underwater photos, videos, and an extra 'little' surprise. In order to make viewing the images in our Ocean Gallery a little easier I have added a previous and next image button to both sides of the gallery. You can use these new buttons or use the thumbnails to scroll through the library of underwater photographs. Some browsers even offer a keyboard shortcut to these buttons. Hover over the buttons to see them. Aside from the obvious updates to the gallery of underwater photographs there have been a few less obvious additions. The biggest is the improvement of the search functionality of the web site. I have added an email updates form so you can be notified as soon as any changes occur. And lastly, I've added a references area with some of my favorite web sites, underwater videos, and books. Check them out! Do you ever get that strange feeling someone is staring at you? It happens to me all the time, especially underwater! In this latest set of underwater photographs you can observe (and learn) about the observer — the Atlantic Longarm Octopus (Octopus defilippi). I have added some new underwater photographs to the Ocean Gallery. For you shark aficionados there are a few new Tiger shark and Lemon shark photos taken at Tiger Beach. For something a little smaller check out this beautiful nudibranch. From a Lemon shark cruising alongside a ship wreck to an Octopus guarding its eggs, a new series of underwater photographs has been added to the Ocean Gallery. The ocean is filled with unique and strange alien-like creatures. Some, like the Flying Gurnard, appear to be in a state of evolution. See some underwater photos of this strange underwater creature and don't forget to watch the Flying Gurnard video, too. To watch a school of predatory fish feed on a bait ball is extraordinary. In this latest Explorer's Journal entry read about my experience amidst this amazing underwater showcase. Read the latestExplorer's Journal and view an underwater bait ball video in action. Thanks to the inspiration of a few friends and a kayak that refuses to give up the Explorer's Journalis once again bathed in my latest adventure. From mating Horseshoe Crabs to revealing nature's secrets, read along as I take you on an adventure through a mangrove lagoon. The photos are slowly trickling their way in! Check out the latest underwater photo gallery for a sample of what I've been lucky enough to experience since I've changed professions. I would love to hear from some of you with your thoughts or what you'd love to see here. It's been a while since my last update and boy have things changed. After some serious thought (~5 min) I decided to quit my day job (web designer) to pursue my love of diving to a whole new level. I can now say I am a certified full time dive bum. I'm working with my friends at Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures so if you're in the area stop by and say hi or join me on a dive. So as you can imagine you'll start seeing a lot more photographs and adventures in here soon. In the mean time, check out a few from a recent dive in the Marvelous Muck.
